Anytime Snakehips releases a new song, it’s essentially a a gift from above. This time Snakehips has remixed Raury, the Atlanta-born poet, singer, and rapper. The track’s sonic stage is set with muffled chatter, but it’s all quickly overlapped by some alluring piano keys and Raury’s genuine vocals—only to be stripped away and replaced by some pumping kicks and subtle claps. We know Snakehips is just waiting to unleash their magic at this point, and at the 1:11 mark, our suspense is finally broken with a mind-boggling array of morphing synths and grandiose percussion. Another layer of rapidly oscillating electronic material joins in—which is eventually taken back along with the rest of the new layers—but this time, Snakehips doesn’t leave us in suspense for too long, as they give back some ecstasy-inducing synth chords and plenty of additional, unique percussion.
